Dark Matter II represents the first release in Elixir Attar’s Smoke Series, to be followed by the upcoming Kyara Smoke. This is not a light interpretation of smoke. It is a dense, winter-oriented symphony of dark resins, animalic tinctures, florals, and heavy oud designed for collectors who seek extreme depth and presence.

Though labeled as an extrait, Dark Matter II behaves closer to a traditional attar in weight and longevity. It is powerful, slow-moving, and commanding.

Concentration & Structure

417 grams of raw materials were used in a 1150-gram total extrait batch, excluding:

• 6% Sultan Qaboos Kashmiri deer musk tincture
  
• 5% Celtic ambergris
  
• 3% Civet

Most notably, the alcohol was completely fumigated using fully sinking wild Nha Trang agarwood, transforming it into a true smoke tincture before the composition was built.

The final concentration sits at approximately 37% — one of the highest in the house’s history.

Fragrance Description

The opening ignites with saffron, clove, cardamom, and ginger, a warm, spiced entry sharpened by Sichuan pepper and Calabrian bergamot. Blackcurrant adds a dark, fruity undertone, while violet softens the structure with a subtle floral nuance. Hojari frankincense begins threading the smoke into the composition immediately.

In the heart, Taif rose macerated with Kashmiri deer musk anchors the floral core. Jasmine grandiflorum CO2 and yellow champaca essential oil add lush, golden depth. Red champaca and honey introduce warmth, while dates contribute a dark, resinous sweetness. Lavender and ylang-ylang maintain structure and balance.

The base becomes monumental. Benzoin, opoponax, styrax, and labdanum form a thick balsamic architecture. Wild incense-grade Maroke oud provides sacred, mineral smoke, while Bengali oud introduces a leathery darkness. Frankincense Vulcain intensifies the smoky dimension. A custom palm-dates accord built from roses and resins deepens the texture without turning gourmand.

Vintage myrrh absolute reinforces the resinous gravity. Mastic, sandalwood, vanilla, oakmoss, and patchouli add structure and diffusion. Castoreum, civet, deer musk, and ambergris create animalic warmth and radiance beneath the smoke.

Dark Matter II does not evolve quickly.

It expands slowly, dense, layered, and persistent.
